Sunday:  Creating T-I-M-E

After my third little one was born, I took a long holiday (8 years) from creating home decor and everything that falls into that category.  Instead, I concentrated on creating little ones and all my time went into that creation.  Well, 8 years passed and with that came adorable twin girls, my time was well spent.  Just last fall, they started kindergarten and I found myself stepping into forgotten familiar territory and getting EXCITED! 

Here is a flashback to my last Easter decor I made 9 years ago before my third little one came to claim his spot in our family. 

There was a lot of tole painting going on in those days - hee hee.

No-Sew Burlap Bunnies and Flowers

Thursday:  Yeah!  Another Creation!

I about fell over when I saw these bunnies on Oopsey Daisy (with a tutorial) last week.

I had to make them!

I waited a week because I didn't want to get my sewing machine out to make them.  

Then I remembered the glue gun!

Hallelujah!

I followed Oopsey Daisy's tutorial (thanks) and used the glue gun where she said to sew.  Instead of stuffing the bunnies with beans, I stuffed them with stuffing - ha ha.

Then I used a sharpie to color the eyes and nose and a crayon for the ears and cheeks.

So easy and oh so cute!

Here's a small tutorial on these no-sew burlap flowers.

Steps...

1. I made a lopsided cloud to use as my pattern and cut out four scraps.

2.  Put a dot of hot glue in the center and fold over (top left).

3.  Put another dot in the new center and fold over again (top right).

4.  Glue it onto a felt circle (I used paper here and then switched to felt).

5.  Continue with the other three scraps until you have a flower (top right).

6.  Make a smaller lopsided pattern for your pretty fabric and follow steps 1-5 (bottom).

7. Glue the pretty fabric on top of the burlap flower and add a button.

How cute is that!

I got a little carried away and made lots of hair flowers.  

I just glued hair clips onto the back of them.

Even my teenage daughter swiped one for herself on the way to school.

Be Mine/Easter Blocks

I went to a local craft store and priced the cutest 'Be Mine' blocks for $25. My friend and I decided to make them for the price of scrap paper and get two uses out of the blocks.

Find a 2x4 in your shed or garage or go to your local hardware store.

Cut 2 - 5" blocks and 4 - 3 1/2" blocks.

Use three coordinating colors of paper and cut them to size.

Mod podge them onto your blocks.

Sand the edges down for a worn look.

Use brown shoe polish or distress ink to give it an aged look.

I printed my letters in Lucinda Handwriting on the computer and increased the size to 230.

After cutting the letters out, use a Sharpie marker to color the white lines around the letters.

Mod podge the letters on and let dry, then mod podge over the letters for the finishing touch.

Waste not, want not...turn the blocks around and what do you have?
