Canvas Pillows

TUESDAY:  Yeah!  A Creation!

I saw some big canvasy looking pillows at the quilt store for $30 each.

Ouch!

I copied them and made my own for $2 a piece.

Yeah!

After making my curtains, I had lots of leftover canvas to work with.

I used the seam in the canvas for added decor to my pillows.

Sewed on a couple of buttons.

This is the back side where the pillow slips in.  

It is suppose to overlap but the pillow is just too fluffy.

I wanted some pillows to match the quilt that my hubby picked out for our anniversary gift. 

He has a good eye.

I found some color matching fabric at the store and made these cute pillows using more canvas scraps for the back side.

It is almost Pottery Barn worthy.

Canvas Curtains

THURSDAY:  Yeah!  Another Creation!

Did you know that you can use canvas drop clothes found in hardware stores for curtains?

Yep.

I am embarrassed to show you my make shift curtains - an old bed sheet clipped up with clothespins.  My hubby was after me for months to either make or buy curtains.  I kept telling him that I couldn't just put anything up (like old bed sheets - ha ha), I had to find just the right thing.

I finally did.

Tah Dah!

I used two canvas drop clothes.  There is literally no sewing involved since they are already hemmed.  However,  I wanted to add pretty brown material to the ends, so I cut off the bottom portion of the canvas and sewed the brown strips on the ends.

I folded the top over and clipped them up. 

 I love the ruffled top look.

-sigh-

I used the left over canvas and made a bed skirt to match the curtains.

I just used the old bed skirt as a pattern.

Nice and classy.

Capri Sun Bags

THURSDAY:  Yeah!  Another Creation!

I have been sewing these Capri Sun bags for 8 years now.

They are perfect birthday gifts for big and little girls stuffed with goodies, school supplies and girly stuff.

I have made several for teachers and they use them as lunch bags.

Collect a bunch of bags.

My daughter collected them from all her lunch room buddies while in elementary school.  She won't do that now in Jr. High - I am on my own.

Cut a slit at the bottom - wash and dry.

I like to add a pocket for snacks and pencils.

Great fun and girls love them!

Cross Stitching

Cross stitching has such a wistful era that I treasure.

Rags to Quilt

THURSDAY:  Yeah!  Another Creation!

This is my first ever quilt that I made for my son for Christmas.

Until yesterday it was not completely finished.  

It has taken me 6 months to finally finish clipping each square.

I will never attempt such small squares again, but it does look cool!

Old jeans and a favorite football team took the makings of this quilt.

Here they are in rows waiting to be sewn together.

The quilt was thrown into the washer and dryer after the final square was clipped.

This is what came out of my dryer by the time it was dry.

Jelly Roll Skirts

Monday:  Yeah!  A creation! 

I found a jelly roll pack (used by quilters) of material strips at Wal-Mart marked down from $20 to $9.

What a deal!  Especially since they were already cut and ready to sew, plus I have leftovers for another project. 

The fabric print is springy and cute and perfect.
