Upscaled Laundry Room Cabinets

THURSDAY:  Yeah!  Another Creation!

My laundry room cabinets have a new-look!

I wanted to give my ho-hum cabinets a smart look for a smart price.

I pulled the doors off and painted them with a semi-gloss black paint.

After two coats of black paint - I brushed it with a polycrylic finish.

A clear finish topcoat in a water-based formula that offers protection along with fast-drying times. Can be used over bare wood, oil- and water-based stains, paint and wallpaper.

I am sold!

50 little grubby fingers and polycrylic mix very well.

It wipes off easily!

Tah dah! 

 I am now ready to tackle bathroom cabinets and my kitchen island.

It looks so clean and classy.

Laundry is Loads of Fun

TUESDAY:  Yeah!  A Creation!

My friend invited me to her house and we made this cute sign for our laundry rooms.

We got the idea from  howdoesshe.com .

A plaque board from the craft store.

Acrylic brown paint for the edges.

We printed the saying from the computer onto cute paper and colored the letters in with a black sharpie marker.

Mod Podge the paper onto the wood and then gloss it over with more mod podge.

Drill two holes to hang the ribbon through.

Rags to Quilt

THURSDAY:  Yeah!  Another Creation!

This is my first ever quilt that I made for my son for Christmas.

Until yesterday it was not completely finished.  

It has taken me 6 months to finally finish clipping each square.

I will never attempt such small squares again, but it does look cool!

Old jeans and a favorite football team took the makings of this quilt.

Here they are in rows waiting to be sewn together.

The quilt was thrown into the washer and dryer after the final square was clipped.

This is what came out of my dryer by the time it was dry.

Framed Summer

I really liked the spring paper and thought it was seasonal enough for summer too, so I just pulled out the paper and turned it over and used the other side.

No extra work - yeah!

Homemade Cinnabon Rolls

SUNDAY:  Creating T-I-M-E!

Time to make my hubby his favorite treat!  

Soft warm homemade cinnamon rolls - mmmm.

Homemade Cinnabon Rolls

INGREDIENTS

Dough

• 1 cup warm milk (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
• 2 and 1/2 tsp yeast
• 1/2 cup white sugar
• 1/3 cup melted butter 
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 2 eggs
•  4 1/2 cups flour  (I use half wheat flour and half white flour)

Combine warm milk, yeast and sugar in bowl (mixer) and let proof 10 - 15 minutes.

Mix in butter, salt, eggs and flour and mix for 6 minutes.  If using wheat flour - mix for 8 - 9 minutes.  Let rise. After the dough has doubled in size turn it out onto a Pam sprayed surface, cover and let rest for 10 minutes.

In a small bowl make sugar mixture - combine ingredients: 

• 1 cup brown sugar, packed
• 2 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
• 1/3 cup butter, softened

Roll dough into a 16x21 inch rectangle.  Spread butter mixture evenly on dough. 

Roll up dough length wise and cut into 12 rolls (use dental floss for a clean cut). Place rolls in a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Cover and let rise until nearly doubled, about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Bake rolls in preheated oven until golden brown, about 15 - 18 minutes. While rolls are baking, beat together cream cheese frosting: 

• 1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
• 1/4 cup butter, softened
• 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/8 teaspoon salt

Spread frosting on rolls while warm and serve - yum!

Family Framed Tile

THURSDAY:  Yeah!  Another Creation!

I found this cute idea here.

Gather supplies - 

mod podge

dollar store frame that I spray painted black

old left over tile

 your choose of paper

Glue the paper onto the tile and let dry.

Add your initial to the glass frame (paint or vinyl)  and hot glue it onto the tile.

Add twine.

My family signed their names on the tile with a black sharpie.

A lesson on family unity would go great with this activity.

Shelf for Treasures

TUESDAY:  Yeah!  A Creation!

Here's a transformation that took no effort and it was easy and simple.

I found this little shelf for $2 at the thrift store.  I had big ideas for it with a bead board backing and other fancy stuff,  however, the simplicity in me won out or maybe I was just too lazy.  Instead I pulled the cutsey heart board off and gave it a quick spray paint.  I didn't even bother to cover it all - the green still shows here and there.

Look how great it holds my junk treasures.

This sits right above my sewing table and is just right for me.

I love using old canning jars to hold stuff.

The smaller bottles on the bottom shelf are salsa jars.  

I covered the lids with burlap and wrapped it with fabric - cute!

A place for everything.
