Summer's Here!

SUNDAY:  Creating T-I-M-E!

Summer's here!
The kids are home and fun outings are planned.
I'm off for June but I'll be back in July.
Never fear, the creating will continue and I'll share it soon.

Meet Margarita!

FRIDAY:  Creative Friend Friday!

Meet my amazing beautiful mom - Margarita!

I credit all my creations to her.  I watched her create EVERYTHING since I was a little girl.
The only difference between her creations and mine is that she has patience - patience to detail.
I wish I had more pictures to show you all, fortunately it's all safely tucked into my memories.

Here is one of her nutty creations..... of course my dad helped too.

My mom is a wonderful seamstress.
She made all my dresses growing up, including my prom dresses and wedding dress.  She continued making dresses for my girls.  The two dresses above belonged to my older daughter and then to my twins.

Here is a sample of the cute outfits she always whipped up.
I love the bloomers.

Every window in the house was draped with her creations.
The sitting rooms had matching pillows and floral arrangements.
The bedrooms had matching bedspreads and pillows.
I scored these drapes when she made new ones 10 years ago!
I still use them in my front room - I love them.

She made ALL the Christmas ornaments and changed them out every few years.
I ended up with her last stash and LOVE them - lace angels and crocheted bells and stars.

Crochet tablecloth.

These are my favorite from when I was young and I still have them displayed.

Picture Strawberry Shortcake dolls, Care Bear Dolls and accessories, ribbons and ribbons of hair bows, Barbie dresses and her sewing machine whirling in the late hours.

Can you believe she did all this plus more while raising five kids?
Now she is happily piecing quilts and enjoying her evening sunsets.

Thanks Mom!  I think you're great!

Recipes Galore!

THURSDAY:  Yeah!  Another Creation!

Organizing my recipes into ONE book!
How many dishes do we really make from our mighty collection of recipe books anyways?

This is my nutty recipe collection.
I can't tell you how many recipe books and magazines I've squandered.
I really only use 1-2  recipes from each publication.

This is what my stash does to me.
It gives me gray hair!

I need a binder to hold all my true and tried recipes.
One book to be right at my finger tips.

Used tabs to categorize my dishes.

Bought pocket sheet protectors off the Internet.
The 4 pocket page holds 4x5 cards.
The 3 pocket page holds 4x6 cards.

Awesome daughter made me some personalized recipe cards off the computer.

Transfered my favorite recipes on the cards and slipped them into the pockets.

Printed recipes from favorite sites and slid them into large sheet protectors.
Allrecipes has tons of recipes.
Our Best Bites is another yummy site.
I just found The Girl Who Ate Everything with great recipes too.

About every 6 months I add new recipes to my binder.

Now when I cook and bake I ONLY refer to ONE book.

Triumph!
No more gray hair!

Garden Chair

MONDAY:  Yeah!  A Creation!

My added decor to my porch garden.

I've been on the prowl for an old chair to add to my porch.
My friend was giving this one away and offered it to me.
Thank you!!

This is what it looked like before I primered it.
Different chair, but same color.

Primer + white paint + sand it down for a nice worn look =

A nice garden chair.

Add a basket or two....

Voila!

La Caille

SUNDAY:  Creating T-I-M-E!

La Caille
This stunning 17th century chateau is a French restaurant nestled inside the Wasatch Mountains.  It is the place where my husband's Executive MBA class of 2010 celebrated their graduation.

Stunning and Sweet!

The grounds were full of beautiful creations.

Congrats Hon!

Simple Empty Frames

THURSDAY:  Yeah!  Another Creation!

I do like decorating with frames.
Here is a simple and elegant way to display empty frames.

This is my bathroom shelf above the latrine.
I took old frames and painted them off-white, roughed them up with sand paper and brushed them with a brown glaze.
I did the same to my freebee shelf.

Added a burlap flower and called it good.
See my tutorial on no-sew burlap flowers here.

I made hanging mason jars and filled them up with ocean goodies from a favorite trip.

Oh, they still smell salty - mmmm.
