Glass Etching

My friend taught me how to etch glass.

It was easy.

Print numbers off the computer and trace them onto contact paper.

Make sure you trace them onto the contact paper backwards.

Place contact paper over your glass.

Follow the instructions on the bottle.

I've seen etching spray in a spray can too.

1.  Make sure you apply it in up and down strokes. 

2.  Do not dab as you see above, it will not turn out very well.

3.  Let the etching cream sit for a few minutes.

4.  Wash off the excess and peel off the contact paper.

Tah dah!

My friend made BOO jars.

My leaf jar turned out beautifully.

I traced leaves onto contact paper and placed them randomly on the jar. 

 I then etched the whole jar.

Pumpkin Jars

Tissue Paper vs/ Acrylic Paint.....

Do you remember these cuties?  

I made them last year when I spied a tutorial on Our Best Bites.

They are so stinkin' cute!

Anyways... I wanted to make some more.

Can you believe it?!

I collected pasta sauce jars, pickle jars, marshmallow gunk jars and salsa jars.

Instead of using tissue paper, which is really quite a pain, I used acrylic paint with mod podge.

I am sure you can use any color and it will work.  

I just wanted pumpkins this go around.

Drying

I found faces here and here and here.

-cut out

-glue onto jars with mod podge

Hot glue ribbon around the rim.

If this were a dessert.......yum!

I like the acrylic paint look to it.

It was super easy!

Slip tea light candles or a string of white lights into the jars for a glowing touch.

Pumpkins are on the top of my most favorite 10 list.

Shelf for Treasures

TUESDAY:  Yeah!  A Creation!

Here's a transformation that took no effort and it was easy and simple.

I found this little shelf for $2 at the thrift store.  I had big ideas for it with a bead board backing and other fancy stuff,  however, the simplicity in me won out or maybe I was just too lazy.  Instead I pulled the cutsey heart board off and gave it a quick spray paint.  I didn't even bother to cover it all - the green still shows here and there.

Look how great it holds my junk treasures.

This sits right above my sewing table and is just right for me.

I love using old canning jars to hold stuff.

The smaller bottles on the bottom shelf are salsa jars.  

I covered the lids with burlap and wrapped it with fabric - cute!

A place for everything.

DIY Antique Jars

MONDAY:  Yeah!  A Creation!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE blue antique jars.  

They sell for $10 - $20 a jar!

I knew that if I bought just one jar I wouldn't be able to stop - so I never bought one.

Now I can have a dozen for pennies!

Shhh - don't tell anyone.

I gathered up chipped jars that could no longer be used for canning.

Any jar will do.

I mixed mod podge with 2 drops of blue neon food coloring.

I got this awesome idea from Gingerbread Snowflakes.

Thank you!

I sprayed some lids gray and rubbed a Ralph Lauren glaze on it.

Makes my heart go pitter patter!

You can't even tell that they are painted.

I saw Domestically Speaking make mason jar candle holders here and had to give it a try.

The possibilities are endless.

I am off to find more jars!

Spring Grass Terrarium

Spring has sprung!

Both the bowl and the goblet are finds from the thrift store.

I glued the bottom of the goblet to the bottom of the bowl with Gorilla Epoxy glue.

Soak wheat berries in water over night.

This will soften the berries so they will sprout.

Spread the wheat berries on top of the soil and cover with just a teeny bit of soil.

I watered it with a spray bottle every morning and night - just give it a mist.

5 days later -

I love the root system underneath.

How about Mason jars?
