Singing Tree

Thursday:  Yeah!  Another Creation!!

My tree is alive and singing!

Here is my ordinary tree I've had on my mantel for the last three years.

I just picked branches off a tree and put them into a vase.

It needs a little livening up.

Cut circles out of sheet music.

Fold and crunch them up.

I hot glued them together (2-3 crunched circles) and hot glued them onto the branches.

Quick and easy and it looks elegant.

Dictionary Fun

Monday:  Yeah!  A Creation!

I found this 'friend' at.... you guessed it...the thrift store for $2.

It is an old 50's dictionary that had been water damaged and it smells oh so good.

It took me back to the days when I worked in the library of the university I attended - I loved going down to the basement and rummaging through old books and periodicals.

Sigh.

I decided to hop on the band wagon and try my hand at a book wreath.

I am so glad I did!

My neighbor friend and I took the dictionary apart and cut lots of circles.

We wrapped each circle around the eraser end of a pencil and put a dab of hot glue on the end to attach to the wreath. 

I made a paper flower to add a touch of elegance.

Oh my!

The water damage to the dictionary provided a natural antique color to it.

She ended up on my family room mirror.
I love it!

This is the book wreath that my friend made. 

So classy with the poka-dot ribbon!

What else can I create?

I love to use books as decor.

I decided to give these books a new look.

I cut the dictionary pages and used modge podge to glue them onto the covers.

Then I covered the eggs the same way as I did the wreath.

Added some paper/burlap flowers.

Compliments my book wreath just beautifully!

My office space.

I covered some cardboard milk boxes to organize my papers.

I used modge podge and covered only the front of the box.

I love white dishes - especially old antique dinnerware and serveware. 

 I don't want to pay for such treasures so I cheat and make my own.

The local thrift store always has stoneware goods for good deals.

These cute pitchers were .50 to $2.00 a piece.

More good stuff.

The make-over assembly line.

A coat of primer and white spray paint does the job well.

Oh, they are lovely!

This is above the kids' lockers in our lanudry/mud room.  

I make do with what I have.

I love it!

FYI:

Not all my dinnerware is spray painted.  

It is not a good idea to actually use spray painted dinnerware due to paint toxins.  

It's just for pretty looks - and ain't it pretty?
