Flower Clips and a Tutorial

THURSDAY:  Yeah!  Another Creation!!

Make 'boutique style' flower clips for less than a dollar!

I found these flower clips and Leis at the Dollar Store for $3.

I made them into these!!!!
I'm am easily wowed!

Adorable as hair clips.

Clip them on a purse!

So cute on a shirt!

View of the backside.

Flower Clip Tutorial

Step 1:  collect flowers (I found all of mine at the Dollar Store)
Step 2:  pull the petals apart from the stems.
Step 3:  put them together and fasten them with a brad.  You can buy cute brads at any craft store - I personally think they are too pricey and just use good ol' school brads found at school supply stores.

Step 4: fasten brad
Step 5:  hot glue a felt circle onto the back for reinforcement
Step 6:  open the clip and hot glue the inside of the top part onto another felt circle  (I bought a box of 100 clips at a Sally Beauty Supply store).

Step 7:  glue clip circle onto the other felt circle - I like to use two circles for more support.
Step 8:  pick a rhinestone or button to glue into the middle - I bought a pack of plastic rhinestones at Wal-mart.
Step 9:  Tah Dah!  You're done!

Here are some cute flowers with buttons in the middle.

  1. Yolanda,
Thanks for inspiring me. I looked at your Dictionary Fun post and it inspired me to use the pile of phonebooks that just got delivered to my door step and recover a lamp i scored at a garage sale. I featured you on my blog. It is small still, but hopefully growing. Check it out!! http://babynightnightbotique.blogspot.com

  2. Great tutorial. You make it look so easy.

I am way too cheap to buy those pricey brads so I dip mine in tacky glue and glitter - it's a nice effect and really dresses them up.

Thanks for leaving the sweet comment on my blog post about the tin can storage.

    Warmly,
    Nicole
